Photo Diary October 2025: Work, 40mm lens, and more work

So this month has got me wrecked. Been a bit sick, worked my ass off, and barely had the time to do (photography) things for myself.

But we got there! I, of course, had some time with friends too, but not enough to my taste. It’s funny how thinking back to some things feels like they were months ago, while they were all within the last 30 days.

Anyway.

Things I did for fun in October

The things I got to do with friends: A Trappist evening (beer-filled fun), play chess with a friend in a bar, various board games with friends one evening, got second place with my team in a huge quiz (slimste quiz, it’s big in Belgium), went to a rerun of Back to the Future in the cinema.

I also got a 40mm lens for my Nikon Z7 II and had fun photographing a bit here and there with it, like at the Antwerp Marathon.

Things for work in October

So yes, October was mainly work. Luckily, I love my job, but still, some more time off would be nice. I shouldn’t be allowed to be in charge of my scheduling.

I did various portrait shoots at multiple offices, group photos too, ofcourse. I had events in the evenings and on weekends. Some were in lovely places like the Afrikapaleis in Tervuren, or the Flemish Parliament.

I also had the chance to play with a giant mobile crane (I wasn’t allowed to control it, though —just direct), walk through the magnificent Port Authority building in Antwerp, and be present at the book launch for clients of mine (my photos are used as author biographies).
