Photo Diary May 2025: Conferences, exhibitions, and a street photo workshop

I’m exhausted. I’m in bed while writing this on a Saturday morning. My head is full of memories, my cards full of photos, and my energy is depleted (for a minute). So let’s look back at this month.

It started with a visit to Het Steen in Antwerp, where one of my photos is featured in an exhibition by Captured Antwerp. A bit further along the quays was the Antwerp Classic Car Event happening.

An event I figured might give me some nice photo opportunities.

I also went to Amsterdam for a day, mostly to visit the Worldwide Streets exhibition. Of course, I did some street photography myself, too, and visited the FOAM and Huis Marseille museums.

Anyway, there were also plenty of actual working shoots, meetings about those shoots, and editing all those photos, like one event at the Winter Circus in Ghent, which is a fantastic venue.

I also spent four days in a row working at two different conferences. Shooting and sleeping were all I did those days with some time for a shower in between,ofcourse. This is probably why I’m so exhausted.

To end the month, I attended a street photography workshop by Chris Harrison at the Brussels Street Photography Festival.

Some of my lessons learned during that workshop:

• Try a lot, even if it means filling your cards with garbage photos.
• Wait in one spot for 15 minutes and see how many opportunities arise.
• Looking for juxtapositions can be an enjoyable undertaking
