I used to make these monthly diaries on my blog. A simple overview of the month with some photos, key events, and other things I thought were fun to mention. So now I thought, let’s bring those back!
The first month of the year was already a good one. I had lots of work to do as a photographer. The first day of the year already: I woke up at my friend’s house and went straight to my sister’s house to celebrate her daughter’s first year. Of course, I was the photographer on duty.
Since I hadn’t done it in a long time, I also took a day to update my portfolio on my corporate photography website. It took a bit to sort through all the photos and make a selection. But in the end, it is worth the time and effort.
I also spend some time with my camera in the park, where I usually go for a run. I noticed the birds were abundant. Since it was a long time since I used my 150-600mm lens, it was a good place and time to try it again.
I’ve also been thinking about starting a podcast on street photography. There’s a good community out there, but too few published talks between photographers. So, I feel it might be attractive to hear people talk about the subject.
Near the end of the month, I finally got to buy my Nikon Z8. I also did my first two shoots on fully mirrorless cameras. The Z7II and Z8 is a good team. It’s more silent than my D850s. And my wrists and arms are thankful for the lighter bodies after a long day of shooting.
