September has been really busy. And I mean, busy. There’s a lot of work to do again. For some reason, I thought it was a good idea to do a two-day hike in between, help friends move, and protest.
Last month, I helped some friends move houses and did two new interviews for the podcast,
Work, work, work
September is typically the start of my busy season. All businesses resume operations after the summer break. Which wasn’t any different this year. As soon as September arrived, I had to start running again.
I had to photograph the visitation of a minister at an opening, photograph our swimming elites for a federation, make group photos for a start-up, make new portraits for a fellow Fred, photograph a significant event in the Wintercircus of Ghent, make a group shot for a large international, shoot all portraits and website images for a ship repair company, create a series of black and white portraits for a young agency team. I’m sure I’m forgetting some other assignments.
Personal work, work, work.
I’ve also done some work for myself, ofcourse. By which I mean creative projects, such as my street photography. At the start of the month, I had a breakthrough photowalk. I wasn’t feeling it during the summer, but at the beginning of this month, that changed, and I got into the flow more easily again.
During one photowalk, I walked into Ovidiu’s workshop. I also hung around the Reuzenstoet (Giant’s parade) in my city. The next day, I went to Brussels for some street photography in the morning and some protesting (photography) in the afternoon.
I also attended a talk by Anton Corbijn about his career. And I organized another meetup with the Antwerp Street Photography Community.
Two-Day Hike along the Belgian Coast
For some reason, I thought it was a good idea to walk along the Belgian Coast in two days. Again. As I did last year. Day one was easy, 36 kilometers in good conditions. I was happy to return to my hotel room, though.
Day two was intense. I had the wind against me for the entire 37 kilometers, which significantly impacted my speed, energy, and mood. Luckily, I did get home properly, though I’m exhausted since.
