Photo Diary February 2025: Lots of events, portraits and street shots

For being the shortest month, February certainly took a long time, probably because I’ve been doing lots of work and other activities. So let’s dive into what I got up to this month.

For work, I was lucky to visit some fantastic places: an event in the Port Authority building in Antwerp and another in the Atomium in Brussels, two architectural icons of Belgium.

Further, I also had some events to photograph in Brussels at a Battle Kart venue (yes, I drove a lap too) and Amsterdam.

I booked a hotel for the event in Amsterdam so I could make a short trip. During that trip, I visited the city, took some street photos, visited the Foam Museum for an exhibition on Saul Leiter, and visited the Huis van Marseille.

A few days later, I attended the De Donkere Kamer event, where Harry Gruyaert and other photographers gave talks. I was tipped off there that Saul Leiter had an exhibition at Gallery Fifty One in Antwerp, too.

On that event, I also witnessed the photo project pitch of Bram Penninckx, who will be a guest on the street photography podcast soon!

Speaking of the podcast, I recorded episodes with Matt Hall, Melik Alperen, Archie Worth, and Bram Pennickx in February.

In the past month I also made plenty of portraits of my clients. I did a natural light shoot for a client in Ghent. They’re a small team of three. For some clients with bigger teams, I set up the studio at their office. Good for over 77 unique portrayed persons.

Of course, there was plenty of personal time: going to a second-hand market with friends, smashing up a rage room for a friend’s birthday, buying books at half price at a stock sale, and photographing a friend’s newborn son.

And ofcourse plenty of street photography too!

Some firsts and some exciting media of February 2025
