Recently I was spending a visit to the city of Mons. A beautiful tiny city in the south of Belgium. Let’s talk a little bit about fun facts about the city.
The St Waltrude church took over 200 years to complete.
The belfry is the only Baroque-style belltower in Belgium.
The belfry is listed as a World Heritage site by the UNESCO since 1999.
Mons was made into a fortified city in the 12th century
The Mundaneum was opened in 1910 in order to collect all of the world’s knowledge.
The Mundaneum used to have a total of 12 million cards, classified to the Universal Decimal Classification system.
Rubbing the head of the Guardhouse Monkey on the main square allows you a wish.
Which fun fact amazed you the most? Let me know!
